Malankara Jacobite Syrian Sunday School Association (MJSSA) is the apex body for catechism in the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church. It was founded on December 27, 1920 under the spiritual leadership of the Late Lamented St.Athanasios Paulose (Valiya Thirumeni) at a meeting held at Piravom Seminary in the name of Malankara Syrian Sunday School association(MSSA).In 1964 when peace was established in the Jacobite Syrian Church,MSSA joined the sunday school association of catholicose faction and continued functioning in the name of OSSAE.But the catholicose ordained by H.H.The Patriarch contrary to the true faith Canons of the church resulted in the split in the Sunday School Association also.In 1973 a meeting held at kottayam on October 2nd 1974.The foundation stone for the central office of M.J.S.S.A at Puthencruz was laid by H.B.Baselious Paulose II Catholicose on 30th April 1977.The Association is governed by the bylaws amended and apporved by the General Body from time to time. |

There are 600 Sunday schools with a student strength of 60,000 and teacher strength of 7,000 in different dioceses in India. |
| The magazine, 'Atmadeepam' (meaning 'the light of the soul') the organ of the association enlightens souls as the name implies. |
| Administrative Setup |

The basic units of MJSSA are the schools headed by the Headmaster. Schools in close proximity are grouped into a District; the Inspector is in charge of the district. In every diocese there are many districts. The Director is in charge of the Diocese. If the Diocese has more than 100 schools the diocese is divided into two zones. The central committee which is the supreme committee includes the Director (Diocese and Zone) and a member elected by the diocese general body. Different sub committees and two members of executive committee are elected from the central committee. The president is nominated by the Episcopal Synod. Vice president, General Secretary, two secretaries, treasurer and auditor are elected from the Annual General Body Meeting. The period of term for all |
| elected members is three years. In the 1 st of May every year the Annual General Body Meeting is held. |
